Abstract

Veno- occlusive disease (VOD) of the liver is one of the major complication of bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Intensive chemoradiotherapy was blamed for the cause of liver damage and the clinical picture of VOD resembles that of intrahepatic portal hypertension. Incidence of VOD is % 1- 64 varying amorıg patients and myeloablative regimens. After the diagnosis of VOD is established prognosis is poor with a mortality of %32- 50. Various agents has been used for prevention and treatment of VOD. Recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (r- tPA) is one of these agents using succesfully. We present here a CML (Chromic Mgetocytic Leukemia) patient complicated with VOD after allogeneic BMT. The patient was lost with hepatic and renal insufficiency although he was treated with heparin and r- tPA.
