Abstract

A 51 year old male admitted with abdominalpain,nausea,vomitting and jaundice,48 hours after ingestion of soy bean.His family story has no event like this.Subicteric apperance was the only physical finding.In his laboratory exam,Hb 8.7gr,total bil.1.4mg,direct and indirect Coombs tests were negative,serum level of glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase: 3.9 IU/g(normal>7.5).There was no problem in his follow-up.Although hemolitic anemias due to G-6-PD insufficiency were usually seen in small girls,it may be seen in adult male rarely.
