Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Quality of work life affects health service and employee satisfaction is seen as an important factor in ensuring patient satisfaction and sustainability of quality in the health system. Literature studies of doctor's quality of work life in Turkey are limited. In this study, we aimed to give resolution ideas in the light of scientific data.

METHODS

Quality of Work Life Scale was applied to the pediatric residents and specialists in İzmir Tepecik Teaching and Research Hospital between 01.03.2018-01.04.2018.

RESULTS

During the study period, 49 (90%) specialists and 47 (72.3%) residents were reached in the hospital. When the results were evaluated, it was found that the residents gave more negative feedback on the ‘continuous improvement and progress opportunities’ ve ‘social integration in the organization’ while the specialists gave more negative feedback on the ‘discrimination at work’ subscale. When male and female doctors were compared, it was seen that male employees had more negative scores in the ‘work stress and time pressure’.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

In conclusion, it was seen that the factors affecting the quality of work life of pediatricians could be affected by the seniority and gender. It was discussed that what can be done to improve the quality of work life and the quality of health service delivery.
