Abstract
AIM: The central corneal thickness was evaluated with ultrasorıic pachymeter of 40 eyes of the 20 patients with normotension glaucoma (NTG) and 100 eyes of 50 patient with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) are compared with 100 eyes of 50 normal person. MATERIAL and METHOD: The ophthalmological examinations of the patients were done by the same ophthalmologist. Our study was performed vvith Alcon Ultrasonic Pachymeter after a drop of anesthetic to the both eyes during the patients looked straight the probe touched to globe 1,5 mm temporal to the corneal light reflex and without pressure to the globe the measurement were done 5 times and the average value was considered as the corneal central thickness (CCT) The value was evaluated by Shaffe test arıd variance analysis. FINDINGS: In NTG group, the central corneal thicknesses were significantly lower than both POAG and control group. In POAG group the central corneal thicknesses were not statistically significant when compared with control group. In control group we found positive correlantion vvith intraocular pressure and CCT. CONCLUSION: As a result, evaluation of intraocular pressure and CCT evaluated with Ultrasonic Pachymeter are of value in glaucomatous patients.
