Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the relationship between insulin resistance and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in obese patients. Material and Method: In our study, we evaluated retrospectively the association between insulin resistance and left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in 60 obese patients who admitted Tepecik Training and Research Hospital Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinics. Findings: Total 49 (%81,7) obese patients had insulin resistance and 50 (%83,4) obese patients had left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. Obese patients with insulin resistance had further left ventricular diastolic dysfunction but the difference was not statistically not significant. Conclusion: Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction may be present more with insulin resistance in obese patients
