Abstract
Behçet's disease is a chronic, inflammatory, generalized vasculitis that involues many organs such as skin, eyes and nervous system. Clinical diagnosis could be made on the basis of the criteria established by the International Behcet's Disease Study Group. Twelve-years-old male patient was admitted to our hospital with the complaints of swelling and erythema of left ankle extending towards the left knee joint and oral aphthous lesions. Physical examination revealed multiple oral aphthous lesions, genital scar due to prior ulceration, swelling of left ankle and bilateral erythema nodosum like lesions on lower extremities. Venous doppler study of the left lower extremity showed left popliteal deep vein thrombosis. The case is presented because of the rarity of Behçet's disease and also its very rare complication, venous thrombosis, in childhood.
