Abstract

In the last decade, it has been shown that the onset of angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, sudden death and stroke are related with the daily changes in the heart rate and the blood pressure. One of the important things that should be taken into consideration in the treatment of hypertension is to prevent the increase of the morning blood pressure by the drug which was taken the day before. This event can be achieved by taking the drug twice daily. If the drug is to be taken once a day, its effect should continue for twenty four hours.
