Abstract
Crush syndrome is a systemic disorder which occurs by rhabdomyolysis due to muscle trauma consisting of medical and surgical complications. Especially it is common in rescued from under rubble after earthquakes. Crush syndrome is the second most common cause of death in earthquakes after the direct effect of trauma. The most common causes of mortality are hyperkalemia, acute renal failure and infections. Provision crucial skills of evaluation, management and treatment to entrapped victim is necessary to ensure a successful outcome. Algorithm of before and during extrication, interventions on admission to hospital, follow-up at hospital after earthquake is very important to reduce mortality. İnitiation non potasium containing solutions treatment as soon as (if possible under the rubble), early diagnosis and treatment of hyperkalemia, are primary approaches.
