Abstract

Fibrous pseudotumour of paratesticular tissue is a rare pathologic antity. Most of these tumors are not real neoplasms and there are many different names to define them (nodular periorchitis, pseudofibroma, chronic proliferative periorchitis.. ). Though median age is 35, they can be seen in all age groups. They present with solitary or multiple nodules localized at tunica vaginalis testis. Clinical and visualization features are not discriminatory from true neoplasms, so they usually undergo orchiectomy. There are 6 (%1.5) pseudotumour cases from a total of 394 orchiectomy material diagnosed at our laboratory between 1996-2001, All cases showed nodular growth pattern and their age was between 30-71. Lesions were composed of multiple nodules in 3 cases and solitary in the other 3. Tumours were localized at paratesticular region in 4, epidydimes in 1 and spermatic cord in 1 case. Microscopic examination revealed interlacing bundles of fusiform cells, inflammatory cells and variable collagen fibrous tissue in 5 cases. One case included proliferative tunica vaginalis epithelium between interlacing bundles of spindle cells.
