Abstract
Low molecular weight heparins (LMWHs) are frequently used for the pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) prophylaxis and treatment currently. LMWH shows its anticoagulatory effect by the activation of antitrombin III and the inactivation of Factor Xa. The major side/adverse effects are bleeding, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, hepatotoxicity, osteoporosis and skin reactions. In comparison to the more common skin reactions such as urticeria, itching, dermatitis, erythema; a very rare another adverse effect is hemorrhagic bullous dermatosis. Herein, we wanted to present a case with this rare adverse effect of LMWHs, who was treated by hemorrhagic bullous dermatosis.
