Abstract
OBJECTIVE
In this case report, we aimed to emphasize the importance to think about HIV-associated nephropathy, while the differential diagnosis, in patients presenting with nephrotic syndrome.
METHODS

RESULTS
Nephrotic-range proteinuria and hyperlipidemia were found in the patient admitted with complaints of weakness, fatique and swelling in the legs. The patient with remarkable and severe edema on physical examination was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome. The patient was detected as HIV(+). Renal biopsy revealed focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
CONCLUSION
It should be remembered that in patients who are diagnosed with nephrotic syndome, HIV infectioncan be a probable etiologic factor.
