Abstract
INTRODUCTION
The problem that the aging man deals with is many. Is one of these problems premature ejaculation (PE)? Is PE more common in aging men? The aim of our study is to find the answer of this question.
METHODS
The records of the patients who applied to our hospital urology clinic were evaluated retrospectively. Premature ejaculation profile(PEP); composed of four questions and all questions are inversely proportional to the severity of PE, the first two questions were releated to the severity of the disease, the other two questions were the patient's dissatisfaction., intravaginal ejaculation latency time score(IELT) and age datas were obtained. The relationship between PEP and IELT datas with age were performed using bi-variate correlation analysis. A value of p<0.05 was considered significant.
RESULTS
Datas of 257 male patients were analysed.Min-max.(mean±std.sap.)values;for age were 22-55(36.9±8.7)years,for IELT;2-645(127.7±129.5)seconds. Correlation results of IELT,PEP1,PEP2,PEP3 and PEP4 scores with age(independent variable) are respectively; As the patient gets older, IELT score decreases but not statistically significant(CC: -0.283; p = 0.085),PEP1 score was decreased(CC: -0.336; p=0.008),PEP2 score was decreased(CC: -0.298; p=0.019),PEP3 score increased(CC: +0.279; p=0.028),PEP4 score was found to be increased statistically insignificantly(CC: +0.243;p=0.057). As a result, in older men, PE is more frequent and severe, but older patients feel less uncomfortable.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
In the literature, the sexual life of the aging man has always been of interest. The prolongation of the average life expectancy causes to an increase in the frequency of sexual complaints. While it is accepted that erection problems increase with age, there are available studies that PE is not affected by age. Contrary to the literature; in our study PE has increased as the person gets older. Our result about this subject which has no consensus in the literature shows that more patient numbered, prospective studies are needed.
