Abstract
The Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome is characterized by recurrent peripheral paralysis of the facial nerve, facial edema of the face and lingua plicata. The etiology of Melkersson- Rosenthal syndrome remains unknown. Allergic, immunologic, infectious (viral or bacterial), neurotropic and genetic factors have been considered responsible in this syndrome.
