Abstract
Goal; To present the Mitigation, Preparedness and Response Practices during Corona Virus Pandemic in Tepecik Training and Research Hospital, that serves as a tertiary healthcare facility in Izmir.
Method: Izmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital Disaster Plan has been prepared in accordance with the Hospital Disaster and Emergency Plans Implementation Regulation published by the Ministry of Health in 2015. In this study, the activities carried out in the light of previous experiences during the Mitigation, Preparedness and Response phases of Disaster Management Cycle is explained.
Results; There are capacity building in the hospital and administrative practices in the general operation of the hospital for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, These; establishment of hospital crisis (incident) management center, use of social media in pandemic management, infection prevention and control, creation of Covid-19 policlinic, restructuring of emergency services, ambulance and patient transport services, increasing pandemic service bed capacity, capacity increase in intensive care services, microbiology laboratory activation in terms of Covid-19, reorganization of outpatient services, operating room working order, conversion of the gym to temporary bed service, reorganization of radiology (Medical Imaging) services, actions of Administrative Financial Affairs directorate, Health Care Services directorate, Support and Quality Services directorate and in the hospital other practices made during the pandemic.
Conclusion: Covid-19 pandemic management; Mitigation, Preparedness and Response phases have been managed in Tepecik Training and Research Hospital in the light of accurate information and previous experiences, by making correct and rapid decisions and with good coordination. With this understanding, the main elements of incident management are; Early warning and monitoring, continuity of healthcare and patient care, employee health and safety, human resources and communication, increasing healthcare capacity, prevention and control of infection, logistics and management of consumables, including medicines, and continuity of laboratory services have been the basis of our work.
