Abstract
Organ transplantation significantly changed the life expectancy and quality of life of patients with advanced organ failure. Solid organ transplantation techniques which used experimentally in animals until the middle of the twentieth century, have become a treatment option in the 21st century. With the discovery of new drugs that suppress immunity in the 1960s, transplantation has gained significant momentum.
In this review; historical development of transplantation in the Turkey and the world, transplantation pathology and rejection evaluation criteria are briefly reviewed.
