Abstract
Objective: Laryngeal neoplasms are one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in head and neck malignant neoplasms. Laryngeal cancers consern 2-5% of all cancers. Patients who underwent surgical treatment because of supraglottic laryngeal cancer were examined for age, gender, histopathologic diagnosis, location of primary disease, surgical treatment and results. Materials and Methods: 14 cases (13 male, 1 female, mean age: 61, age range 53-70 years) who were histopathologically diagnosed as supraglottic carcinoma in our clinic between January 2006 and February 2010 were reviewed retrospectively. Patients treated with partial laryngectomy or neck dissection with transoral epiglottidectomy and postoperative radiotherapy. Results: 8(57.1%) patients classified as stage1, 4(28.7%) patientsas stage2, 2 (14.2%) patients as stage 3 for clinical and radiological findings. Neck dissection not performed to 5 (35.7%) of the patients, but bilateral neck dissection performed to the other 9 (64.3%) patients. Local control detected at the stage 1 %87,5, stage 2 75%, stage 3 50% of the patients.
