Abstract

OBJECTIVE

Noncardiac surgery is an important risk factor for mortality and morbidity in patients with cardiovascular disease or patients with risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

METHODS

Current guidelines focus on the preoperative cardiac assessment and management of these patients.

RESULTS

Because of the results of recently published studies and conflicting comments on especially DECREASE studies, European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA) with the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology (AHA / ACC) needed to update their guidelines.

CONCLUSION

In this review the basic topics will be tried to emphasized in the light of updated guididelines in 2014.
