Abstract

THE OBJECTIVE: To review the patients we have operated in our clinic due to salivary gland mass and compare them with the literatüre. THE PATIENTS AND THE METHOD: The patients who applied to our clinic and were operated due to salivary gland pathology between January 2001 and January 2007 were reviewed according to the surgical prosedure that performed and the postoperative histopathological evaluation, retrospeetively. THE FINDINGS: 155 patients ha ve been operated in our clinic due to salivary gland pethology between January 2001 and January 2007. 75 patients were male and 80 were female. 103 (66,4%) of the salivary gland masses were originating from parotis, 49 (31,6%) from submandibular gland and 3 (2%) from minör salivary glands. 23 (22,3%) of the parotis masses were malignant 80 (77,7%) were benign, 3 (6,2%) of the submandibular salivary gland masses were malignant, 41 (93,8%) were benign and 2 (66,6%) of the minör salivary gland masses were malignant, 1 (33,3%) were benign. CONCLUSION: We aimed to present the surgery we have performed oriented at the salivary gland masses and the postoperative histopathoiogical results we have obtained.
