Abstract
Investigations were held on 33 euthyroid patients undergoing elective cholecysthectomy. The patients were divided into three groups: in group I (n=13) Halothan, in group II (n=10) Enflurane and in group III (n=10) Neurolept-Anaesthesia (Dehydrobenzperidol + Fentanyl) were administered during anaesthesia. Serum thriiodothronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) levels were determinated immediaty before premedication and postoperatively. In all groups the decrease in T3 levels were statistically significant (p< 0, 01). T4 levels increased postoperatively. The T4 levels found in group I and II, increased statistically significantly (p< 0,01), but in group III this increase was unsignificant (p> 0,05). The results indicated that, in cases with hyperthyreosis or hypothyreosis it would be favorable to use neuroleptanesthesia instead of halogenated hydrocarbons.
