Abstract

The pilomatrixoma is originating from hair follicle matrix. Its percentage is 0.1 among the skin tumors and is mostly seen in Caucasians. It is mostly located in head and neck. It presents well-circumscribed subcutaneous lesion. It has been diagnosed usually in the first two decades of life. The definitive diagnosis is made on histopathological examination.The tumor is histopathologically consists of basoloid cells, shadow cells, keratin filaments, cornified material, and giant cells. Malignant variants of pilomatrixoma have also been reported. Recommended treatment is surgical excision. In this study, we wished to present a patient who presented with swelling, excisional biopsy applied and whose pathological result was reported to be pilomatrixoma in accompaniment with the literature.
