Abstract
In this report of 17 cases of abdominal tuberculosis retrospectively which have had operation and postoperatively diagnosed and were collected from the eight year material of the Department of General Surgery of Uludağ University Medical Faculty has been evaluated. It was found that 12 (70.5%) of whom had urgent operation and only 3 (17.6%) of 17 cases could have suspected diagnosis of abdominal tuberculosis preoperatively. Althought it is very rarely seen in socially and economically developed countries, abdominal tuberculosis is still encountered in large numbers in developing countries and its incidence has been decreased in our country whereas it is occasionally seen and has been a problem in diagnostic approach.
