Abstract
15 patients with ST depression during exercise test in the absence of electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy were compared with 15 patients with normal exercise test according to their ventricular mass which was established by M mode echocardiography. All patients had normal coronary angiograms. Increased left ventricular mass index (p<0.05) was found in cases with false positive exercise test. It is concluded that increased left ventricular mass, in the absence of electrocardiographic left ventircular hypertrophy, may play role in the mechanism of false positive test.
