Abstract
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the rates and categories of applied therapeutic apheresis procedures in our center according to this recent guideline. Material and Method: Totally 338 therapeutic apheresis procedures applied to 57 patients between January 2008 and July 2010 were investigated retrospectively. Findings: Plasma exchange constituted 55 % of Therapeutic Apheresis procedures. The most common indication was for hematological diseases (77 %) followed by neurological (19 %) diseases. Conclusion: We expect that, with improved confidence in the appropriate utility of therapeutic apheresis procedures and recognition of new indications, therapeutic apheresis will be practiced more widely in a broad range of diseases.
