Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Calling attention to trauma in pathophysology of lymphangiomatosus and to lymphangioma which is sparsely observed in ethiology in adults that consult with a mass on the neck.
Case presentation: A 62-year-old man presented with cystic mass on the left cervical region. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a left cervical cystic mass Cystic mass is totally excised and the pathologic examination supported the diagnosis of cystic lymphangioma.
CONCLUSION: Lymphangiomas are the congenital malformations of the lymphatic system especially in children younger than two years of age affecting mainly head and neck region. Occurrence in adults is uncommon. Cystic lymphangioma should be keep in mind in the differential diagnonis of the patients who had a neck mass.
