Abstract

Diamond-Blackfan anemia is a rare congenital hypoplastic anemia that is usually presented in infancy. A number of congenital anomalies, involving particularly the head and upper limbs, are present in about 25% of reported patients. This condition must be differentiated from transient eryhtroblastopenia of childhood, which occurs in children for unexplained reasons or is associated with an underlying chronic hemolytic disease. Here in we present two infants with Diamond Blackfan anemia due to its rarity. They had congenital abnormalities and each showed good response to prednisolone therapy.
