Abstract
Transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder is a rare cancers under 40 years and those are known as advanced age diseases. Most patients present with painless macroscopic hematuria. In our clinic two cases have been diagnosed with bladder cancer in the last 6 months at first; a female patient at seventeen years old complained of bleeding in urine that started within last week. The patient had abundant erythrocytes in her urine examination and at urinary ultrasonography (US); a 26x13 mm vascular solid lesion was observed to the right of the posterior of bladder.Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TUR-BT) was performed on the patient and histopathologic examination revealed low grade noninvasive papillary urothelial carcinoma (PUC).Intracavitary epirubicin treatment was given to the patient once weekly for 8 weeks. No new tumor was detected in first control cystoscopy after intracavitary epirubicin treatment and she was followed up with control cystoscopies to be performed at regular intervals. Our other case was a 16-year-old female patient who was admitted to our pediatric surgery clinic for burning and bleeding in her urine within last one month. In the patient's urinary US; a well defined 6.5x13 mm sized without acoustic shadowing hypoechoic lesion posterior right parasagittal situated in bladder so patient was performed basket polypectomy. histopathologic examination of the received material revealed low grade noninvasive PUC; then patient was referred to us.For control purposes patient was taken urinary US that 8 mm diameter polypoid appearance was observed in the right posterior of bladder. The patient was done TUR-BT and histopathologic examination revealed low grade noninvasive PUC.With this result, the patient was admitted to low-risk bladder cancer and she was decided to be followed up with control cystoscopies to be performed at regular intervals. In our study two cases of bladder cancer diagnosed under 18 years of age were reviewed in the light of current literature.
